Shall we partake of the "ism"'s?

A video from 1948, that at time time seemed far fetched, but today it seems to be happening:

Climate Change Finally in Reach of its True Goal

SUMMARY OF THE BANGKOK CLIMATE CHANGE TALKS

According to the National Committee Against the U.N. Takeover & Citizens United for American Sovereignty & Freedom Alliance:

In the One-World Government the following will occur:

1. Our military will be under the UN control. Our military will be brought before UN judges and court system.
ICC...International Criminal Court. ICC consists of U.S. hating judges who meet in European courtrooms.
2. UN will tax our pension, travel, use of oil & electricity, phone calls overseas, and imported consumer goods or other words a World IRS
3. UN will control the ocean's resources. Through the Law of the Sea Treaty, UN will start taxing Americans for oil drilling and mineral extraction and even start telling the U.S Navy where it can & can't go.
4. UN will abolish the death penalty in America
5. UN will open up America's borders to illegal aliens & potential terrorists.
6. UN wants the terrorists at Guantanamo Bay freed and allowed to live in the USA.
7. The Global New Deal....as the UN international welfare program. It is modeled after the New Deal of Franklin Roosevelt. The Global New Deal would provide the equivalent of food stamps & welfare checks to every Third World country. It would also establish a socialist health care plan for every person on the face of the earth.
8. An Environmental Regulation Agency....UN will "negotiate" a Climate Change Treaty in Copenhagen. China, India, Brazil and Pakistan will be exempted from the treaty, American industry will be at a huge disadvantage and will cost American workers their jobs.

I've also received information from a trusted source that:

On 12/6/08 CGS Obama transition team Meetings:

Eric Schwarts is in charge of the US/UN transition team & also handles multilateral issues for the National Security Policy team.

1st meeting was with a delegation from the Partnership for Effective Peacekeeping (PEP) and the next was with members of the Washington Working Group on the International Criminal Court (WICC is a coordination group of the Washington base organizations committed to ICC) Citizens for Global Solutions play a lead role in both of these coalitions.

Our objective was to give the incoming administration pragmatic objectives that could be accomplished during a 4 yr. term on our issues.

For the PEP briefing 7 priorities were discussed:
1. Pay down nearly $1.6 billion in U.S. arrears to the UN & request Congress permanently lift the cap on U.S. dues to U.N. peacekeeping

2. Balance the inequity between UN Security Council mandates & the resources provided to support those mandates

3. Work with DPKO. Increase US peacekeeping participation & leadership by putting more blue helmets on US troops.

4. Include conflict prevention & civilian protection as fundamental pillars of the U.S. foreign policy

5. Voluntarily restrict the use of the U.S veto in the Security Council in situations involving genocide, major war crimes & major crimes against humanity.

6. Support the expansion of the UN Dept. of Political Affairs to enable it to more effectively respond to emerging crises.

7 Stand up the Civilian Response Corps with dedicated staffing & request funding for a Conflict Response Fund

For the WICC meeting we shared 3 priorities:

1. Reinstating the US signature to the ICC treaty (which was unsigned by Pres. Bush & John Bolton)

2. Constructive U.S. participation in the ICC's governing body, the Assembly of State Parties in preparation for the ICC's 2010 Review Conference.

3. Expanding, deeping & further formalizing the official channel of US cooperation with the Court so that we can help bring to justice the those responsible for atrocities in Darfur, the Congo, Uganda & other cases the ICC is involved in.

Must Babylon Fall?

I was listening to Conference Talks from October 2008, and then heard a related song by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It made me wonder if the troubled times we keep seeing in the world today are somehow necessary or inevitable. Are they are all part of God's plan to disprove and push aside the things of the world so that Zion may rise for Christ's 1000 year reign on earth?

I put them together in this video to help others get a feeling for what made this question come to my mind:

The fall of Babylon the great has been foretold:
"Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all." - Revelation 18:21

". . . which waxeth old and shall perish in Babylon, even Babylon the great, which shall fall." - D&C 1:16
However, as Babylon ripens in iniquity, a great latter-day Zion will be established:
"And it shall come to pass among the wicked, that every man that will not take his sword against his neighbor must needs flee unto Zion for safety. And there shall be gathered unto it out of every nation under heaven; and it shall be the only people that shall not be at war one with another. And it shall be said among the wicked: Let us not go up to battle against Zion, for the inhabitants of Zion are terrible; wherefore we cannot stand." - D&C 45:68–70

". . . and it shall be Zion, which shall come forth out of all the creations which I have made; and for the space of a thousand years the earth shall rest." - Moses 7:64
Though there are certainly governments and nations that seek to destroy freedom and each other; perhaps the fall of Babylon is not so much a physical destruction of governments and nations, but rather more of a spiritual destruction of wickedness in general. On the other hand, such wickedness is certain to cause some hardship and destruction:
“In prophetic imagery, Babylon is the world with all its carnality and wickedness. Babylon is the degenerate social order created by lustful men who love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil. Babylon is the almighty governmental power that takes the saints of God into captivity; it is the false churches that build false temples and worship false gods; it is every false philosophy . . . that leads men away from God and salvation. Babylon is false and degenerate religion in all its forms and branches. Babylon is the communistic system that seeks to destroy the freedom of people in all nations and kingdoms; it is the Mafia and crime syndicates that murder and rob and steal; it is the secret combinations that seek for power and unrighteous dominion over the souls of men. Babylon is the promoter of pornography; it is organized crime and prostitution; it is every evil and wicked and ungodly thing in our whole social structure” (McConkie, Millennial Messiah, 424).
In Revelation Chapter 8, we begin to read of the seventh seal, or the seventh thousand years of the earth’s temporal existence; known to us as the 2000 A.D. Millennium. During the early part of this period is when judgments come upon the earth in a final attempt to turn mankind’s heart to God. The earth will then be cleansed, Christ will return, and his reign will begin. (see D&C 77:12–13 for further explanation).

One interesting part from Rev. 6:12–17 is the Great Earthquake that John sees. The sun also darkens and the moon turns to blood. Stars appears to fall and the Wicked Mistake these signs for the end of the world. (See also JS—M 1:33; D&C 29:14; D&C 88:87.) Compare this to the concerns may people today are having about what will occur near the end of the year 2012, mainly due to the end of the seemly accurate Mayan Calendar. Often thought to point to a "Galactic Alignment" that some fear may spell certain doom for planet earth.

Another interesting coincidence surrounding this is the 144,000 to be sealed in Rev. 7:1–8, and how the Mayan Calendar is based on cycles of 144,000 days.

Regardless of whether or not Dec. 21st 2012 will be an eventful day or not, "see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet" (Matt. 24:6). It is true that we live in a glorious time, greater then any other time in earth's history, and "if ye are prepared ye shall not fear" (D&C 38: 30), but "Woe unto wicked! it shall be ill with him" (Isa. 3: 11).

Merging of Technology

As the web continues to emerge from a monolog into a dialog, my thoughts turn to other technologies. Will TV, Phone, Computers, and Internet all eventually merge into a single platform for information, entertainment, and communications? Many people are already receiving all of these technologies from a single carrier threw cable or fiber optics being run into their homes.

I see a vision of a day when we’ll all be carrying around our portable communications device everywhere we go. This device might even be used as a sort of e-commerce and self identifying device that can be swiped passed a reader at you local store or government office, much like the new "PayPass" technologies being used with Credit Cards or how Bluetooth on cell phones is used to buy items from vending machines. This all-in-one device would have a camera and microphone for communicating with others, taking pictures, or making video and voice memos. It could also display or play your Multimedia files. You could even take it home, plug it into your home "computer" (that will have become more of a glorified docking station and backup/storage device), and use the portable device's capabilities to provide you with internet access, or to watch videos on a full sized screen that you download as you wish instead of waiting for it to be aired; then comment about it on the providers blog.

One might be concerned that such a portable device would be easily stolen, but such crimes could be thwarted by imbedding microchips under the skin in the palm of the hand; or forehead if you don't have hands. This microchip, much like the one’s used to identify lost pets, would be required by the device to insure you are an authorized user of the device. Reprogramming the device would automatically wipe its encrypted memory, so that if stolen it would be impossible for your personal information to be stolen as well. These devices could then be required as a tamper proof identification system, required for all transactions. It would be the end of identify theft, or at least make it much harder and greatly reduce it’s occurrence.

It will contain GPS technology so that it can be tracked down to locate anyone simply by obtaining a warrant from any judge willing to sign their name to it. It would become impossible for anyone to leave it behind because they would be instantly arrested if they were not in possession of it, or they would be defaulted to a life of exile, unable to involve themselves in any legal transaction without the device.

Of course Evangelical Christians will protest it, and call it the mark of the beast. Technology, just like anything else, can be a great help or hindrance depending on how we use it. Often times it is seen as a way to simplify our lives, and yet it seems that the more of it we have, the more complex our lives become.

(Don't get the wrong idea, I really don't believe in 666 and/or the mark of the beast, but I know other people do).
